Completed Norris and Clement

"Artillery" model 31" barrel  2 band Norris and Clement complete. Subject to SAC inspection in the Spring. Final weight 7.6 lbs (a bit more than I hoped), but still a pound less and 9" shorter than a 3 bander.

All parts fit and assembled. Epoxy and stain/ finishing remain. 

SN&WTC for Massachusetts Artillery Rifle build

Begun one of this winters projects, stretching the stock on a Norris and Clement 2 bander. All original parts except forearm. Musket had been cut down for shotgun use. Barrel relined by Bobby Hoyt. Will post more pictures as work continues. 

Winter project complete. Richmond Cavalry Musketoon

Several photos of the project at various stages. I found two sporterized model 1842s and built a full length 1842 out of the best pieces. With the leftover parts, I decided to build a Richmond Cavalry musketoon. I cut back the sporterized stock to musketoon length, repaired, and refinished it. It was missing wood on either side of the tang, and behind the lockplate. Also needed a new lockplate as the one I had was cracked. Found a good deal on a pitted, but otherwise functional Harper's Ferry 1844. The barrel was lined by Robert Hoyt and a repro front sight soldered on. I also found a repro rear sling swivel from Gator Den at the Nationals. I cut a brass 1816 ramrod down to musketoon length. All other parts are original model 1842. Took it out to the range and was happy with the initial results at 25 yards. Pictures show it in various stages of manufacture, and I included a picture of an original for comparison from the Richmond Armory.

Glastonbury Skirmish

Another successful Regional skirmish completed: the 1st CVI ran everything as smoothly as possible. Less than 4 seconds between 1st & 2nd in the musket team, the 15th CVI continued their 1st place streak with their carbine team and the 10th Mass keeps everybody chasing them with their smooth bores.

The Regional Team Standings are also included after three (3) skirmishes. I've added the Smooth Bore results for interest!
